Forefoot

Hallux Valgus
Commonly referred to as a bunion, it refers to a prominence of the big toe joint which causes pain secondary to deformity

Hallux Rigidus
Arthritis (wear and tear) of the big toe joint, the second most common site of arthritis in the body.

Metatarsalgia
Pain under the ball of the foot, often due to overload.

Bunionette
A bony bump or prominence that forms on the outside of the foot at the base of the little toe.

Lesser Toe Deformity
Curling or clawing of the lesser toes (toes 2-5) due to a variety of causes such as joint or tendon issues.

Morton’s Neuroma
A swelling of the nerve between the toes, causing pain and sometimes numbness in the toes.
Midfoot

Mid Foot Arthritis
Pain in the midfoot secondary to wear and tear changes. Can be due to trauma, flatfoot or without an underlying cause.

Plantar Fasciitis
Pain in the heel which can be very difficult to manage, often worse in the morning.
Hindfoot

Ankle Arthritis
Degeneration of the ankle joint, most commonly due to trauma.

Hindfoot Arthritis
Wear and tear of the joints below and/or in front of the ankle joint.

Ankle Instability (Ligament Injury)
Problems with "rolling" the ankle and pain secondary to ligament injury

Peroneal Tendinopathy
Pain behind the outside of the ankle often due to tendon tears

Osteochondral Lesions (OCL) of the Ankle
Damage to the cartilage and/or bone in the ankle joint, after trauma or repeated use

Achilles Tendon Rupture
Tear of the achilles tendon at the back of the ankle

Achilles Tendinopathy
Inflammatory condition causing pain in the heel or achilles tendon Can be at the bony insertion or tendon itself.

Tarsal Coalition
Pain and deformity secondary to abnormal development of the bones in the foot.
Deformity

Planovalgus (Flat Feet)
Pain and deformity due to flatfoot deformity that is often progressive

Cavovarus (High Arches)
Pain and arthritis that can develop due to high arches and heels that turn in.
Trauma

Syndesmosis Injuries
Rupture of the ligaments above the ankle leading to an unstable, painful joint. AKA "high ankle sprain"

Lisfranc Injuries
Rupture of the strong ligaments in the midfoot that help to maintain the arch of the foot

Ankle Fracture
Fractures of the ankle bones (tibia and fibular) and associated ligament damage

Calcaneal Fracture
Fractures of the heel bone, often due to fall from height

Talus Fracture
Fractures of the talus bone (dome of the ankle)

Navicular Fracture
Fractures of the navicular bone (in front of the ankle joint) due to trauma or stress fractures

5th MT Fractures
Fractures of the shaft or base of the 5th bone toe due to twisting or trauma.
