Conditions

Mr. Talia treats all conditions of the foot and ankle, ranging from acute fractures and sports injuries to long-term arthritic disease.

Forefoot

  • Hallux Valgus

Commonly referred to as a bunion, it refers to a prominence of the big toe joint which causes pain secondary to deformity

  • Hallux Rigidus

Arthritis (wear and tear) of the big toe joint, the second most common site of arthritis in the body.

  • Metatarsalgia

Pain under the ball of the foot, often due to overload.

  • Bunionette

A bony bump or prominence that forms on the outside of the foot at the base of the little toe.

  • Lesser Toe Deformity

Curling or clawing of the lesser toes (toes 2-5) due to a variety of causes such as joint or tendon issues.

  • Morton’s Neuroma

A swelling of the nerve between the toes, causing pain and sometimes numbness in the toes.

Midfoot

  • Mid Foot Arthritis

Pain in the midfoot secondary to wear and tear changes. Can be due to trauma, flatfoot or without an underlying cause.

  • Plantar Fasciitis

Pain in the heel which can be very difficult to manage, often worse in the morning.

Hindfoot

  • Ankle Arthritis

Degeneration of the ankle joint, most commonly due to trauma.

  • Hindfoot Arthritis

Wear and tear of the joints below and/or in front of the ankle joint.

  • Ankle Instability (Ligament Injury)

Problems with "rolling" the ankle and pain secondary to ligament injury

  • Peroneal Tendinopathy

Pain behind the outside of the ankle often due to tendon tears

  • Osteochondral Lesions (OCL) of the Ankle

Damage to the cartilage and/or bone in the ankle joint, after trauma or repeated use

  • Achilles Tendon Rupture

Tear of the achilles tendon at the back of the ankle

  • Achilles Tendinopathy

Inflammatory condition causing pain in the heel or achilles tendon Can be at the bony insertion or tendon itself.

  • Tarsal Coalition

Pain and deformity secondary to abnormal development of the bones in the foot.

Deformity

  • Planovalgus (Flat Feet)

Pain and deformity due to flatfoot deformity that is often progressive

  • Cavovarus (High Arches)

Pain and arthritis that can develop due to high arches and heels that turn in.

Trauma

  • Syndesmosis Injuries

Rupture of the ligaments above the ankle leading to an unstable, painful joint. AKA "high ankle sprain"

  • Lisfranc Injuries

Rupture of the strong ligaments in the midfoot that help to maintain the arch of the foot

  • Ankle Fracture

Fractures of the ankle bones (tibia and fibular) and associated ligament damage

  • Calcaneal Fracture

Fractures of the heel bone, often due to fall from height

  • Talus Fracture

Fractures of the talus bone (dome of the ankle)

  • Navicular Fracture

Fractures of the navicular bone (in front of the ankle joint) due to trauma or stress fractures

  • 5th MT Fractures

Fractures of the shaft or base of the 5th bone toe due to twisting or trauma.
